I am a student of theology and Scripture who writes and speaks from within the Roman Catholic Christian tradition.
I was born in 1935; BA in philosophy from the St. Paul Seminary, St. Paul, MN, in 1957; License in theology from the Gregorian University, Rome, Italy, in 1961; and doctorate in theology (STD) from the Catholic University of America, Washington, DC, in 1967.
I was Ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis, in 1960; secretary to Archbishop Leo Binz from 1962 to 1964; named a peritus (theological expert) of the Second Vatican Council and attended the discussions during the second session in 1963; doctoral studies at Catholic U., (dissertation on Newman’s theory of doctrinal development) from 1964 to 1966; professor of theology at the St. Paul Seminary, full time 1967 to 1970, visiting 1970 to 1980 Director of the Newman Center at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities Campus, from 1970 to 1980; left active priestly ministry in 1980.
I served as assistant to the City Manager of the City of Fridley, MN, from 1981 to 1998. Married Margaret Marie Strobel in 1981; began writing reflections on the Sunday Gospels in 2000.
